The first album of singer, rapper, actor and record producer Kanye West to be available in 2010 is scheduled to be released in January and is a live album that it is entitled “Kanye West: VH1 Storytellers.”
VH1 Storytellers is a television music series where the artist performs in front of a small group of people and tells them stories regarding his songs. This album would be available as a DVD or a two-disc CD.
In the original episode from which the album is based and was aired on February 28, 2009, West had demonstrated his musical talent but it also showcased his inability to discuss the personal stories that were the bases of his music. He admitted that it was very difficult for this to describe some of the things that caused him to write those songs.
In making the album, VH1 had to remove about half of the session in Los Angeles that had lasted for three hours. The primary reason for cutting those parts was the use of profane words by West especially when describing his reaction to certain people like frontman Thom Yorke.
Still, executive producer Bill Flanagan and the other members of the network had tried their best to retain the essence of the West episode. Some of the interesting parts of West’s discussions in the episode that were left untouched include his comments on O.J. Simpson, Michael Phelps and Michael Jackson.
With regards to a real album, the controversial West is still in the process of recording the still untitled work. He has vowed to finally push through with his work in 2010 after this was temporarily shelved after his tour with Lady Gaga was canceled and his unexpected interruption of Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech for the Best Female Video award at the 2009 Video Music Awards.
